THE LIARS BOOK CLUB audiobook BY ELLERY ADAMS

THE LIARS BOOK CLUB BY: ELLERY ADAMS- Audio Book

Release Date: October 27, 2026

I have read the first in this series, The Secret, Book, and Scone Society and really enjoyed it.  The entire book was a joy to read if I am honest.  Not only the murder mystery, but Adams had me just has curious about each of the book club members lives.  We got to learn about each individual woman in that first book and I really loved it.  Hester, Estella, Nora and June felt like my own friends.  Although, I don't always listen to audio books, I absolutely HAD to listen to this one because I loved the first book so much.  And I have to admit, it felt more like I was catching up with old friends instead of listening to a murder mystery.

First-The Voice

The narrator of this audiobook is Cris Dukehart.  She did a really nice job of voicing Adam's book.  Dukehart has a nice smooth pleasant voice already, but she went farther.  She actually created different voices for each of the characters.  She also did a really fantastic job of keeping those same voices throughout the novel.  So much so that by the end of the book, I was able to tell who was speaking at different times with just her slight voice changes.  She really did a wonderful job with bringing to life the characters that Adams created.  As someone that doesn't automatically grab an audiobook over a physical copy of a book, it helped to create an overall enjoyable experience.  I would certainly listen to another book that Dukehart reads.

Second- The Plot

As usual, Adams does not hold back the punches.  Right off the bat, the story starts with there's a wedding with a missing groom and a tropical storm brewing.  The reader knows that something is happening right away as your lead right into the action.  But Adams, isn't done with the reader by any means.  There is more at stake.  There is a very valuable medieval scroll that goes missing.  Actually a most precious one to be exact.  And the storm?  Well I won't spoil it for you, but let's just say that quant, little Miracle Springs, NC will not be the same.

Third- My Thoughts

Adams does a really great job with this new story.  She keeps the plot moving well.  It kept me on the edge of my seat and I was shocked several times throughout.  I did not see who the culprit was at all.  The only negative I would say is that there is one part of the ending that I did not particularly like, but I will not spoil it for anyone else.  I would be curious though on what everyone thinks and if anyone else feels the same way that I did about it.  But that is for another day.

Overall, I enjoyed the story and the mysteries.  Yes there are a couple.  I feel the need to go back and read all of the ones I missed from the first to this latest one.  I am ashamed to say that I have failed Adams for my lack of reading all of them.  But I fully intend to catch up!  For me, I absolutely enjoy reading the books in a series in order as I really enjoy seeing the characters grow and develop throughout the course of the series.  For the characters in this series, I enjoy not only how they are healing but how their friendships are growing and nurturing each other.  Even with the murders, this series is just as much about healing and friendships as it is about catching the guilty.  What more could you ask for?  Murder, mystery, mayhem, friendship, healing, good food, scones, wine and coffee!

I hope you enjoy Ellery Adams's newest murder mystery as much as I did.
